Testing reveals that the primary source of energy consumption in these machines is the hydraulic system's oil pump; therefore, energy-saving efforts should focus on this area.

Installing a variable-frequency drive (VFD) system is an effective solution. This system converts AC power into DC power through rectification and filtering, then inverts it back into AC power at variable frequencies to drive the motor, thereby achieving energy savings. When retrofitting hydraulic pipe bending machines, a dual-circuit configuration (switching between standard line frequency and variable frequency) is typically employed. Factors such as operating environment, grid voltage, and load magnitude must be carefully considered. Additionally, power and control lines for the energy-saving drive system should be routed separately—using shielded cables for control lines whenever possible—and the system's electromagnetic interference (EMI) immunity should be reinforced.
