How can the issue of bending angle deviation in single-head pipe bending machines be resolved?

Single-head pipe bending machines are widely used and offer advantages such as versatility, a well-designed structure, and ease of operation. However, as they are designed for bending metal, improper operation can pose safety risks. The machine's main drive spindle is inserted directly from the top of the bending head, ensuring precise installation and convenient maintenance. The bending spindle and drive sprocket are forged, machined, and hobbed as a single, integrated unit; a keyless connection ensures uniform load distribution. Driven by dual hydraulic cylinders, the machine features an automatic hydraulic throttling and cushioning system that engages as the bending arm approaches the target angle, significantly enhancing bending precision. During the rapid reset phase, a similar throttling and cushioning mechanism activates as the arm nears the starting point, greatly improving reset accuracy and operational efficiency. The machine is fully hydraulically driven.

In the pipe processing machinery industry, single-head pipe bending machines—relying on hydraulic systems as their core power units—remain the mainstay of sales. Processing technologies such as pipe bending, cutting, and end forming have undergone continuous refinement and improvement. Over the past decade, driven by technological advancements and upgrades—including the evolution of automatic bending capabilities and the integration of user-friendly CNC operating systems—single-head pipe bending machines have become increasingly sophisticated and convenient to use.

When using our pipe benders for bus exhaust systems, we have moved beyond the limitations of older hydraulic models—which struggled with precision and relied on manual feeding, rotation, and measurement—to achieve significantly higher accuracy and efficiency. Thanks to the revolution in CNC technology over the past decade, modern hydraulic pipe benders represent a vast improvement over the machines used twenty years ago.

As pipe bending machines—including hydraulically driven models—age after prolonged use, certain components inevitably deteriorate; consequently, a solid understanding of the equipment is essential for disassembly, analysis, and troubleshooting. When dealing with complex bending tasks, addressing issues such as deviations or angle inaccuracies is crucial for improving precision. If bending angle deviations occur, the first step is to inspect the single-head bending machine's angle controller and encoder for damage or loose connections. Once encoder issues are ruled out, one should check for friction or interference affecting the bending arm, as well as for problems such as excessive oil temperature—which can cause uneven bending speeds—or solenoid valves failing to properly regulate hydraulic pressure.
