So, how should one prepare a mandrel-type (with-core) pipe bending machine for operation? Experts from Huameng Machinery provide the answers below:

1. Before bending, the pipe end must be flared and any burrs or deformations from cutting removed; otherwise, the mandrel cannot be inserted.

2. The interior of the pipe requires lubrication.

3. Precise mandrel insertion depth is required, which can be tricky to adjust. However, when bending pipes with closely spaced bends—such as the upper section of a clothes hanger—using a mandrel-less roller bending method often leaves insufficient space to install the positioning/clamping mechanism and the outer roller.

For example, if the straight-line distance between two bends is only 72mm, a conventional mandrel-less hydraulic roller bender cannot perform the task; a hydraulic mandrel-type bender is typically required.
