Pipe-bending machine technology is widely used in my country today across sectors such as power construction, road and railway infrastructure, boilers, bridges, shipbuilding, furniture, home appliances, and interior decoration; the associated processes continue to evolve alongside modern technological advancements. Pipe-bending technology in my country has roots dating back to the Bronze Age, gradually taking shape and developing over time. By the period spanning the Yin-Shang and Spring and Autumn eras, the bronze smelting and casting industry was already highly developed, yielding various tools such as bronze knives, files, and saws. Today, the experts at Huameng would like to discuss the key considerations for modifying pipe-bending machine molds.
The usage method for V-shaped clamping molds is fundamentally similar to that of R-shaped clamping molds; however, due to structural differences, their application varies. The following process details should be noted:
(1) When bending pipes, the clamped section must not be too short—otherwise, pipe deformation may occur; a length of 20mm is sufficient.
(2) When bending pipes made of softer or thinner materials, a mandrel should be inserted into the clamping section to prevent deformation.
(3) Since the clamping mold and the bending die (wheel mold) rotate together to bend the pipe, excessive clamping force is unnecessary. The force should be adjusted based on the pipe's diameter and wall thickness, ensuring the pipe does not deform. Excessive force can cause deformation (because the bending die applies force across a surface area, whereas the clamping mold grips along two lines).
(4) When using a V-shaped clamping mold, a gap may exist between the clamping mold and the bending die. The size of this gap depends on the pipe diameter; the gap is smallest when the diameter is around 10mm. While the gap widens as the pipe diameter increases, this does not affect clamping or processing. If the pipe diameter exceeds approximately 18mm, the V-shaped clamping mold, bending die, and guide mold must be replaced. Unlike the V-shaped version, the gap between the clamping mold and the bending die remains constant when using an R-shaped clamping mold. (5) The V-shaped dimensions of the guide die and the clamping die should be uniform to facilitate observation and mold adjustment.
