For a new hydraulic pipe bender, issues with the hydraulic fluid are unlikely to be the primary cause of noise, as the newly added fluid meets specifications; instead, the noise might stem from insufficient fluid levels causing the pump to draw in air, or from a fault within the motor-pump assembly itself. However, if a machine that has been in service for a long time suddenly develops abnormal noise, the hydraulic fluid should be inspected, and the oil tank and suction filter cleaned, to resolve the issue.
Pipe processing machinery—such as pipe benders, cutters, and swaging machines—has matured significantly in terms of quality and technology. Unlike in the past, when the introduction of new products or technologies often involved a period of trial and error—resulting in less reliable machine performance—modern pipe processing equipment is stable and standardized; consequently, with proper maintenance, these machines offer a long service life.
When the pipe is inserted onto the mandrel of the bending machine, small iron filings may dislodge; any filings that are not cleared away can fall into the machine's internal oil tank. Hydraulic pipe benders rely on an oil pump to supply hydraulic fluid and use solenoid valves to control hydraulic power. While the intake filter generally catches most of these filings, a small amount can still enter the pump and subsequently the solenoid valves. These trapped filings can clog the valves, obstructing fluid flow and causing specific machine functions to fail, thereby preventing the bender from operating correctly. There is no need to panic if this occurs; simply use the control panel to manually trigger the specific movement, observe the indicator lights on the solenoid valves to identify the malfunctioning unit, and then turn off the power. Next, use a 4mm hex key to remove the solenoid valve from the distribution manifold. Clean the valve thoroughly with kerosene, use an air gun to blow out any remaining internal debris or filings, and reinstall the valve to resolve the issue.
