The hydraulic pipe bender is a new type of tool that combines pipe bending and lifting capabilities. It offers numerous advantages—such as a rational structure, safety, ease of operation, reasonable pricing, quick setup/dismantling, portability, and multi-functionality—securing a significant share of the domestic market. It is primarily used for pipe installation and repair in factories, warehouses, docks, construction sites, railways, and the automotive industry. Beyond its bending function, the bending assembly (hydraulic cylinder) can be detached and used independently as a hydraulic jack.

Hydraulic pipe benders are forging machines that transmit working pressure via high-pressure fluids (such as oil or emulsions). They feature a variable stroke and can exert immense force at any point in the cycle. Operating smoothly and without vibration, they easily achieve significant forging depths, making them suitable for forging large components as well as for deep drawing, baling, and briquetting large-format sheet metal. This category primarily encompasses water-hydraulic and oil-hydraulic presses; certain bending, straightening, and shearing machines also fall under this classification.

Experts note that rotary forging machines combine forging and rolling processes. In these machines, deformation occurs progressively through localized action, resulting in lower deformation resistance, lighter machine weight, smooth and vibration-free operation, and suitability for automated production. Examples include roll forging machines, profile rolling machines, plate bending rolls, multi-roll straighteners, ring rolling machines, and metal spinning machines.

Forging machinery refers to equipment used for forming and separating materials during the forging process. This category includes forming equipment—such as forging hammers, mechanical presses, hydraulic pipe benders, screw presses, and horizontal forging machines—as well as auxiliary machinery like uncoilers, straighteners, shears, and forging manipulators. Since these machines are primarily used for metal forming, they are also known as metal forming machine tools. Forging and pressing machinery shapes metal by applying pressure; the exertion of immense force is a fundamental characteristic, making these typically heavy-duty machines. They are equipped with safety protection devices to ensure the safety of both the equipment and personnel.

Forging and pressing machinery primarily includes various forging hammers, presses, and auxiliary equipment. A forging hammer is a machine that utilizes the kinetic energy generated by a falling heavy ram or a high-speed forced stroke to perform work on a workpiece, causing plastic deformation. Forging hammers are among the most common and long-established types of forging machinery. They feature simple construction, flexible operation, versatility, and ease of maintenance, making them suitable for both open-die and closed-die forging. However, they generate significant vibration and are difficult to integrate into automated production lines.

Mechanical presses utilize drive mechanisms such as crank-connecting rods, toggle linkages, cams, or screws. They offer stable operation, high precision, favorable working conditions, and high productivity. They are easily mechanized and automated, making them ideal for use in automated production lines.

Various automatic wire-forming machines (such as cold headers), horizontal forging machines, screw presses, radial forging machines, and most bending, straightening, and shearing machines also employ drive mechanisms similar to those of mechanical presses; in a sense, they can be considered derivative series of mechanical presses.
