First, what is a pipe bending machine? Broadly speaking, "pipe bending machine" is a general term covering a category of equipment that can be further classified into specific types. These machines are widely used in industrial construction and are considered essential equipment; therefore, it is crucial to have a solid understanding of their operation. A superficial or skeptical approach is a major pitfall in the learning process. To begin with, one should understand that pipe bending machines generally fall into categories such as hydraulic and CNC models. Each type has its own unique characteristics and scope of application, so it is important to distinguish clearly between them rather than confusing the different varieties. So, how can one master the characteristics and advantages of pipe bending machinery? Experts from Huameng Machinery explain:

1. The bending arm and the main bending spindle are integrated into a single unit; the bending die shaft is interchangeable; and the clamp die moves vertically. This design not only ensures a rational structure that enhances mechanical strength but also simplifies the overall configuration, thereby streamlining the electrical circuitry.

2. When feeding the material for the final bend, the carriage might collide with the pressure die. To prevent this, an "interference zone" function is utilized: the pressure die retracts → the carriage continues to feed → the bending arm returns → the plane of bend (POB) rotates → the clamp die engages → the collet releases → the carriage exits the interference zone → the pressure die clamps down → the pipe is bent. This process prevents collisions between the carriage and the pressure die, ensuring the successful completion of the final bend while minimizing material waste at the clamping end and reducing production costs.

3. The bending head can move laterally along guide rails. This feature is essential for aligning the bending die groove with the machine's centerline after a die change. This method is simpler than adjusting the machine's centerline by manipulating the bed rails or the tailstock.

4. During the bending process, the carriage acts as a load, pulled forward by the pipe. To improve bending quality—specifically by preventing excessive wall thinning in the bend area and reducing springback—a booster device is incorporated. During the bending process, the pressure die not only clamps the tube firmly but is also driven forward by an auxiliary pushing force, thereby generating a lateral thrust that assists the bending action.

5. The carriage responsible for the linear feed motion (DBB) is pulled forward by the tube itself during the bending process. This setup eliminates the need for an active "forward thrust" mechanism, thereby resolving synchronization issues between the carriage and the bending speed, removing the DC motor negative feedback system previously required to generate such thrust, and simplifying the electrical circuitry. However, since forward thrust is beneficial for the bending process—particularly when dealing with large-diameter tubes—it remains a necessary component. Consequently, the VB tube bending machine is equipped with an auxiliary pushing device.
